"국가지정 중요민속자료 제236호로 (1999년 12월 28일) 국가에서 지정 보호하고 있는 마을로 아산시 송악면 설화산밑에 위치하고 있는 외암리 민속마을 에는 약5백년 전에 이 마을에 정착한 예안 이씨 일가가 지금까지 주류를 이루어 살고 있다. 문중에 걸출한 인물들이 많아서 큰집이 들어서기 시작했고 지금도 옛 모습을 간직한 집들이 이끼 낀 돌담을 돌면 이 마을의 역사를 짐작할 수 있는데 돌담너머로 집집 마다 뜰 안에 심어 놓은 과일나무 및 마을 입구의 장승을 비롯하여 조선시대의 생활상을 엿볼 수 있는 디딜방아, 연자방아, 물레방아, 초가지붕 등이 보존되어 있으며, 이밖에 많은 민속 유물들이 전해 내려오고 있다. 특히 이 참판댁과 중요민속자료 95호로 지정되어 있는 영암군수댁(건재 가옥)은 아름다운 정원과 더불어 조상들의 삶의 모습을 느껴볼 수 있는 장소이다. 최근에는 이곳에서 사극이나 영화 촬영이 종종 있으며 많은 관광객이 찾아오고 있다.

『 This village is designated and protected by the Government as Important Folklore Material No. 236 (Dec. 28, 1999). It is located under the Seolhwasan(Mt.), Songak-myeon, Asan. The family of Yeahn Lee has lived here. Since many distinguished people have come from the village, big houses have been built. If you go around the old style houses with moss-covered walls, you can notice the history of the village. Treadmills, millstones, water mills and thatched cottages as well as fruit trees in the yard and Jangseung at the entrance of the village are well preserved, and other folklore heritages have been inherited. Especially, Yi champandaek and Yeongam gunsu daek (Geonjae house) designated as Important Folklore Material No. 95 are the place where we can feel the life of our ancestors. Recently, many historical dramas and movies have been filmed there and many tourists visit there. 』"
