Chungcheongnam-do

About 10,000 Chinese elderly tourists will visit Chungnam from May to September, 2010.

The delegates of the Chinese Association of Elderly Tourism visited Chungnam and had a family tour on February 24 and 25, 2010 in order to discuss the details of their schedules and courses during the “Grand Festival of the Elderly Culture Tour of Korea and China, 2010.”

The “Grand Festival of the Elderly Culture Tour of Korea and China, 2010” is the joint work of five cities and provinces, which are Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Chungnam, and takes places twice a year in spring (May) and autumn (September).

The delegates took a tour of the province's major tourist attractions including the Independence Memorial of Cheonan, Asan hot springs, the reproduction complex of Baekje history in Buyeo, and Baekje History and Culture Center and especially discussed their tour courses and schedules during the “Great Global Baekje Festival of 2010.”

A tourism official of the province said that It's very meaningful for us to attract about 10,000 Chinese elderly tourists. It's a great achievement serving two purposes in that it attracted not only tourists, but tourists from abroad. We're planning to keep working hard to attract tourists home and abroad to successfully hold mega events such as the “Year of Visiting Chungnam, 2010” and “Great Global Baekje Festival of 2010.”

The Chinese Association of the Elderly Tourism is China's largest tourist organization consisting of about 80 tourist agencies.
