Deoksan Hot Spring

The origin of Deoksan Hot Spring, located in Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, is told in <Chungbo> written by a renowned Confucian scholar during the Joseon Dynasty period named Lee II. One day, a crane was standing in the middle of the rice paddies without trying to fly. People in the neighborhood drew near the crane finding her injured in the wing and the leg. They applied water from the paddies to the injuries. The crane continued to stay there for 3 days until her injury healed enough for her to fly away. When the people took a close look at the place where the crane was sitting, they found a clear, warm spring spurting water. Since then, people were said to have used this place as a mineral spring. Deoksan Hot Spring lies on the western tip of the hot spring zone in Chungcheongnam-do, 15km west of Yesan, and 9km north of Hongseung-eup, where it is linked to Onyang and Dogo.
