With a series of export contracts with foreign buyers for agricultural and marine products, Chungnam’s expectation for making headway into the global market has been rising more than ever. At the 2012 Chungnam Product Show and Business Meeting (9~10 Oct, Bangkok) attended by 37 local SMEs, 21 enterprises contracted 9.83 million dollars with 450 buyers from South East Asian countriessuch as Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Specifically, Ryeoam from Buyeo contracted 800,000 dollars, HansTech from Cheongyang 500,000 dollars, Gatbawui Food from Boryeong 300,000 dollars, SMI from Yesan 250,000 dollars, and CitiNetwork from Nonsan 65 million dollars. In particular, CitiNetwork’s achievement was quite significant considering the fact that a company that had mainly focused on the domestic market finally expanded its business into the overseas market.

Exports of agricultural and marine products are also on the rise. The Province held a two-day export fair at Resom Spa Castle on 11-12 October and concluded 15.4 million dollars of export contracts.
30 buyers from 13 countries including Japan and China visited the fair and met with 67 local farm producers and food processing firms. Contracts for processed food were the biggest with 6.6 million dollars, followed by those for agricultural products such aspear, mushroom and chestnuts with 4.3 million, for marine productssuch as seasoned laver and dried fish with 3.4 million and for ginsengproducts with 1.1 million. Chungnam Province plans to support local exporters by continuously holding export fairs while maintaining networks with the existing foreign buyers in and outside Korea.
