Camellia Flower Information Village

Beautiful coast and bamboo forest add scenic view of a Camellia Flower Village where about eighty households are clustered in the village. With the slogan of ‘a Village Visited by Customers Themselves', residents produce crops in a eco-friendly way for healthy food.

One of the amenities here is playing in mud flat, which is very well known as a World 5 Mud Fat Area including east coast of the U. S., seashore of the North Sea, and the Amazon basin. You can enjoy shell gathering, mud pack, and a hot sand bath. On top of that, you can also experience farm life such as seeding in spring and fall, weeding in summer, and making scarecrow, harvesting rice and red pepper in fall.

Healthy food is another pride of this village. For example, duck-rice is produced by cast loosing ducks into rice filed. In addition, picked garlic and traditional paste made of both bay salt from the west sea and bamboo salt are on sale in this village.

Uniqueness of I-saec-chae-heom Village

One of the baggiest attractions of I-saec-chae-heom Village is Seocheon botanic garden, established by director Jaewan Kim at his own expense. He retired as a principle of elementary school and wanted to provide children a learning place in a nature and to inform Korean’s culture. It is open throughout the year without admission fee. Inside of the garden, there are museum of bonsai, earthenware exhibition, and museum of farming.

You can enjoy unique food in a unique village like this place. Knife-cut noodles or steamed bun with red beans mixed with a lotus leaf, mulberry leaf, or a honey locust leaf while participating in a variety of activities such as weaving ramie fabric, making brooch made of ramie fabric, natural dying, and playing folk game.

Some of the participating activities have a program in which you have to learn how to make a fire, how to purify water, and how to cook rice with handkerchief, imagining the case of being shipwrecked on a deserted island. There are beautiful areas around such as field of reeds in Sinseong-ri, Hongwon port, Chungjang-dae beach, and habitat for migratory birds.
