Chungnam signed deals worth 47 million dollars with three parts and materials companies from Japan in the latter half of this year.

The provincial government concluded MOUs in the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, with three Japanese companies, namely Aisan Industry, Advantest and Murofushi Production Lab. Officials from the companies including Advantest Korea and MSC Tech, Murofushi Production Lab*s joint venture in Korea, participated in the signing.

According to the deal, Aisan Industry, the world*s largest manufacturer of auto parts such as fuel filters and pumps, invests 35 million dollars in the Baekseok Agricultural Industrial Complex to construct a 6,100 m昌 factory and plans to start operation from early 2015.

Advantest, the world*s largest manufacturer of semiconductor test systems, will establish an R&D center to develop new products, such as memory handlers, SoC (system on chip) handlers and device interfaces, in the Third Industrial Complex of Cheonan, one of the major cities of Chungnam.

For the R&D center as large as 660 m昌, 7 million dollars will be spent by the end of 2015, and more than 40 researchers with a master or doctorate degree will be recruited to work in the center. In the meantime, Advantest finished the construction of its new factory in the Third Industrial Complex of Cheonan in 2013.

Murofushi Production Lab will build a retainer factory as large as 9,900 m昌 by investing 8.3 million dollars in collaboration with Korea Shinei, and start operation from the latter half of this year. Retainers are a key part for the high-speed, high-pressure bearing used for high-speed railways and wind power generation. These copper alloy parts maintain the proper positioning of bearing balls and rollers.

With the MOUs with these companies, the province expects to create 185 direct jobs and 950 indirect jobs while to generate 1.6 billion dollars in sales and 3.2 billion dollars worth of economic effects.
