The Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government held an unofficial meeting for the promotion of tourism in Northeast Asia at Resom Spa Castle in Deoksan on April 19 as part of the programs for exchanges in the private sector during the 7th Northeast Asia Local Assembly Chairperson Forum.
During the meeting, tourism-related officials of nine local governments of five Northeast Asian countries discussed ways of tourism development and exchanges among them.
The meeting was attended by 35 people from tourism-related departments and tourism organizations in Korea’s Chungcheongnam-do, China’s Jilin, Yanbian, Heilongjiang, and Hebei, Japan’s Nikada and Nara, Mongolia’s Tuv Aimag, and Maritime Province of Siberia in Russia.
The attendees introduced what they were doing for tourism development and discussed how to promote tourism among the Northeast Asian countries. Those from the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government introduced local specialties (things to eat and see), Boryeong Mud Festival, and Geumsan Insam Festival. After the meeting, the attendees paid a visit to nearby Haemieupseong Town Wall.
They tried traditional robes dating back to the Baekje Period, engaged in pastime like arrow shooting, and saw traditional folk performances like juldarigi and drum playing.
The PR booth installed at the forum place provided PR materials and souvenirs. The booth was made based on the images associated with the Baekje Cultural Land and the Boryeong Mud Festival.
