The "2023 Asian Cup Boryeong International Yacht Race," which unfolded in front of the Boryeong coastline for seven days, featuring over 160 athletes from 17 countries worldwide, concluded successfully with the closing ceremony on the 30th.
 
The closing ceremony took place at a special stage set up at the Boryeong Yacht Racing Venue and was attended by around 300 individuals, including Vice Minister Jeon Hyeong-sik, Mayor Kim Dong-il of Boryeong, Chairman Jeong Hae-cheon of Chungcheong Yacht Association, athletes, and officials.
 
The event included announcements of the results and awards, return of competition equipment, declaration of the closing of the event, and a farewell performance.
 
In the J70 (General Division) category, the Turkish team claimed victory, while the second place went to the Chinese team and the third place to the Korean (Pyeongtaek City Hall) team.
 
In the Optimist (Youth Division) category for boys aged 12 to 15, Singapore's Kum Sean (12) secured the top spot, and in the girls' division, Greece's Eleni Alchanati (14) took the first place.
 
In the same Optimist category for boys under 12, Korea's Choi Jong-hyun (10) emerged victorious, and in the girls' division, Singapore's Thm Ashlyn (10) clinched the title.
 
Vice Minister Jeon expressed gratitude to the participating athletes, executives, and event staff during the closing ceremony, stating, "We will make efforts to establish a comprehensive marine leisure tourism city and marina harbor where various marine leisure sports, including yachting, can be enjoyed. We aim for Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, to become a global marine leisure tourism city."
 
As part of the associated events for the competition, a yacht experience class was held, attracting more than 2,800 participants who had the opportunity to experience a range of marine leisure sports.
 
Throughout the competition period, the international athletes also experienced Boryeong Mud Festival and Boryeong Central Market, adding further significance to their visit.
 
Building upon the success of this event, the province plans to expand related infrastructure and content to transform the western coast of Chungcheongnam-do into a global hub for marine leisure tourism.
