Foreigners who need registration
Foreigners who want to stay in Korea for more than 90 days from when they arrive in Korea.
Foreigners who give up Korean nationality and take a foreign nationality or were born abroad and want to stay in Korea for over 90 days after getting a Korean visa.
Foreigners who do not need registration. The following foreigners are excluded from the foreigner registration.
Foreigners with Diplomacy (A-1), Official Business (A-2) or Conventinos/Agreements (A-3) and their families
Foreigners who are engaged in important duties in terms of diplomacy, industry or national security and their families and other foreigners specifically allowed to be excluded from foreigner registration by the Minister of Justice.
Foreigners with Canadian nationality who want to stay in Korea for less than 6 months and want to do any activities allowed for each visa type below Culture and Arts (D-1), Religious Affairs (D-6), Family Visitation (F-1), Dependent Family (F-3) and Miscellaneous (G-1).
Foreigner 17 years or younger (They have to register as a foreigner within 90 days from when they turn 17.)

e.g., When a Canadian with a B-2 visa (Tourism/Transit) applies for a change of visa type after staying in Korea for 5 months, he/she needs to make a foreigner registration when he/she applies for the change of visa type.
