The Province has announced that it has launched the Chungnam Energy Center an organization dedicated to energy conversion - in Naepo New City as an affiliated organization of Chungnam Techno Park with an aim to realize the 'Chungnam Energy Conversion Vision' on the ground by reducing the proportion of coal-fired power generation to 0% by 2050 and make the dream of ‘Chungnam Full of Starlight’ a reality.
 
The Chungnam Energy Center is aimed at creating a comfortable living environment through the implementation of the Chungnam Energy Conversion Vision, securing residents’ health rights, promoting energy conversion policies, and discovering new
industries. Headed by the director, the center is run by 10 people working in three teams such as the Energy Policy Support Team, the Resident Participation Support Team, and the Commercialization Support Team.
 
Their main tasks include nurturing experts in energy conversion; publicizing decoalization and implementing energy vision; creating and operating a new and renewable energy fund; helping establish energy plans, etc.; training and promoting energy conservation; building energy-related networks; conducting energy surveys, research, and statistical analysis; supporting residents' participatory energy projects; revitalizing energy-related cooperatives; promoting demonstration projects for energy conversion in Chungnam; and creating an energy independent village.
