In order to secure growth engines for key regional industries in Chungnam Province as well as respond to the 4th industrial revolution, the Province has begun the second year of ‘Chungnam Software (SW) Convergence Cluster 2.0’ in earnest. Selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT for the SW Convergence Cluster 2.0 (enhancement of specialized industries) Project in 2019, the Province is planning to invest a total of 19 billion won by 2023.

The main achievements in 2019 include the direct and indirect creation of 52 and 1,477 jobs, respectively, a 22.4% sales increase by ICT companies in the cluster, the registration of 46 intellectual property rights, and 23 Main-Biz/ISO/KC certification cases.

For instance, EAN Hightech increased its direct and indirect sales by 200 million won and 400 million won, respectively, raising its total annual sales by 18% in 2019 through the commercialization of the ‘display repair process target monitoring and smart control system’ technology. Its exports grew by 64%. It hired five persons. In 2020, the company expects to record an annual direct/indirect sales of 1.6 billion won through a contract execution with a big business. UNIQ Technos is preparing to use its ‘intelligent object recognition technology to deal with train meets’ in its commercialization of ‘an intelligent traffic control system.’ In 2019, its sales grew by 32%, registered one patent, and hired three persons.

In 2020, the company plans to discover five new business models, 11 service commercialization support cases, 29 customized corporate growth counseling contracts, and 300 working-level expert training through the operation of differentiated customized support programs for each business growth stage with a purpose of invigorating the SW convergence cluster ecosystem.
