Gyeryongsan (Mt.) consists of about 20 peaks including Choenhwangbong, the highest peak at 845.1m, Sambulbong, Yeoncheonbong, Gwaneumbong, etc. The name originates from the fact that the mountain ridge resembled a dragon with a rooster's head. According to the principles of fengshui (Chinese Geomancy), Gyeryongsan was considered one of four key mountains. The Joseon Dynasty intended to place the national capital here.

Gyeryongsan was designated as a National Park in 1968. The seven valleys and three waterfalls intensify the fantastic and beautiful scenery of the mountain. Among them, it can be found the eight most beautiful attractions ("Gyeryong-Pal-Gyeong"): the sunrise at Cheonhwangbong, the snow flower of Sambulbong, the sunset at the Yeoncheonbong, clouds of Gwaneumbong, the fresh verdure of Donghaksa valley, the autumn foliage of Gapsa Valley, the sea of clouds of Eunseon Waterfall, and the bright moon of Twin Pagoda.

There are well-organized and safe trails for 3 to 4-hour hikes. Some common trails are as follows:
